To disassemble the fuel pump/fuel level sensor module, begin by separating the fuel level sensor from the fuel pump. Disconnect and separate the assemblies, removing the old outlet pipe 0-ring. If the fuel level or temperature sensor needs replacement, replace the entire unit. To replace the fuel pump, remove the retainer cap and pump from the filter housing, throwing away the rubber grommet. For replacement, remove the fuel pressure regulator and old O-ring. Install the fuel pump, regulator, and sensor assembly. Use a new O-ring and grommet, aligning the outlet pipes. Install the fuel pump, regulator, and sensor assembly with a new O-ring and grommet, aligning the outlet pipes.

Prior to starting the procedure, drain the fuel tank to approximately the 7/8 level. This adjustment is necessary for safe access to the fuel pump/fuel level sensor module.
