Infiniti G35 Crankshaft Pulley Parts Questions & Experts Answers

  • Q: How do you remove and install the crankshaft pulley on Infiniti G35?
A: Disconnect the cable from the negative terminal of the battery. Block the rear wheels and set the parking brake. Raise the front of the vehicle and support it securely on jackstands. Remove the lower splash shield if equipped. Remove the engine cooling fan and the fan shroud. Remove the drivebelts. Use a strap wrench around the crankshaft pulley to keep it from moving while loosening the bolt with a breaker bar and socket, ensuring the bolt remains with the pulley when removed. Wedge a prybar or two screwdrivers behind the crankshaft pulley and carefully pry it off the crankshaft. If the pulley is difficult to remove, use a two-jaw type puller, ensuring the center rod pushes against the pulley bolt, and avoid placing the puller jaws around the outside of the crankshaft pulley to prevent damage. Depending on the puller type, it may be necessary to remove the radiator for sufficient clearance. To install the crankshaft pulley, align the pulley groove with the key on the crankshaft and slide it onto the crankshaft. Install the crankshaft pulley retaining bolt and tighten it to the specified torque. The remainder of the installation follows the reverse order of removal.
